Hurricane Sandy Outreach
On October 29, 2012 Hurricane Sandy barreled onto the East Coast and took away thousands of homes, many lives and the spirits of countless residents. Staten Island, NY was one of those devastated communities. In the months following the storm, ReachGlobal Crisis Response of the EFCA developed a partnership with Salem Church to aid in the rebuilding process. The rebuilding of not only physical homes but lives by bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a broken people. With tears in his eyes a homeowner speaks of a ReachGlobal Crisis Response staff person like this, “She came out of the blue, like the Lord dropped her in my driveway. I was in such a dark place and ReachGlobal brought me hope.” By God's grace, the vision of ReachGlobal is to develop 1 million disciple makers to impact 100 million lives and 100 locations with 'Acts 19' results, using holistic and crisis based platforms.
Lifesong will be sending a team to the Hurricane Sandy disaster area in Staten Island, NY to partner with ReachGlobal. The team will partner with EFCA churches in the rebuilding efforts but will also have the opportunity to minister to people's spiritual and physical needs as they arise.
A team went on July 25-August 1, 2015.
